Roadway has been reopened

Lime Kiln Rd is closed between Carefree Ln and Powder Horn Drrive due to a tree down over the roadway involving power lines. Orange and Rockland is currently on scene.

Message from Michael Specht, Supervisor of Town of Ramapo

Dear Residents,

The latest storm track indicates that our area could experience one of the most severe blizzards in the past decade. I am urging all residents to take this storm seriously.

Please take the following precautions:

Stay indoors during the height of the storm.

Check on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance to ensure they are safe.

Use extreme caution when shoveling snow, particularly individuals with heart conditions, as overexertion can be dangerous.

Please be reminded that parking on town streets during snow events is strictly prohibited. The Ramapo Police Department will be actively patrolling and enforcing this regulation. Parked vehicles significantly hinder snow removal operations and can delay emergency response efforts.

In the event of an emergency, contact your local police department immediately.

The non-emergency hotline is open, 845 250 8142 ,this number is for non- emergent calls. If you have a true emergency please call 911.

The Supervisor’s Office is always accessible via phone and residents are welcome to contact the office via phone at 845 357-5100 ext. 202.

Route 202 is closed between Wilder Rd & Old Route 202C due to trees down.

Please plan an alternative route.

Again, vehicles are not handling these conditions well. This is not the time to be out driving unless absolutely necessary. Unnecessary travel is tying up police, highway, and emergency resources. Please stay off the roads and stay safe.

🚗 A winter storm is expected tonight (Friday into Saturday). Please keep vehicles off roadways overnight so snow removal and sanding crews can operate safely and efficiently. Police will be enforcing local parking ordinances, and vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed, and in tonight's case, likely towed. Please use caution if traveling, and stay safe during this snowstorm. The Ramapo Police Department will be out there for you if you need us.

Winter Weather Advisory. Snow Expected Tonight ❄️

A fast-moving winter system will bring the first accumulating snowfall of the season to our area late tonight through Sunday morning. Snow is expected mainly between midnight and around 10:00 a.m., with totals ranging from 2–3 inches inland, 3–5 inches across the NYC/NE NJ metro and coastal areas, and up to 4–6 inches on eastern Long Island. Windy conditions and very cold temperatures will follow Sunday night into Monday.

🚗 Please keep vehicles off roadways overnight so snow removal and sanding crews can operate safely and efficiently. Police will be enforcing local parking ordinances, and vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed. Please use caution, allow extra time if traveling, and stay safe during this first expected snowstorm of the season. The Ramapo Police Department will be out there for you if you need us.
