Shelter Care's Six Programs:

Shelter Care's initial program, the Shelter Home Program is a long-term residential program for boys ages 11-17. Typically, youth stay in the residential program for 1-3 years with the goal of family reunification and/or to prepare the youth for independent living. The Safe Landing Youth Shelter is an emergency crisis shelter for runaway and at-risk youth ages 11 to 1

7. The program provides immediate assistance to both youth and the family in a time of crisis. Services include free residential care, individual and family counseling, case management, aftercare, supplemental education, 24-hour telephone hotline, transportation, and assistance in finding alternative living situations when necessary. Local social service agencies can refer youth and youth/families can self-refer. The Respite Care Program provides planned periods of respite for up to four days to strengthen and keep struggling families together. This short-term residential program offers scheduled respite and crisis stabilization for youth ages 6 to 17 who are living with their parent/guardian. Referral forms available online at https://sc72.org/referral/

MYTH vs. FACT about youth in crisis:

MYTH: Youth in crisis always look like they’re in crisis.
FACT: Many youth hide it well. Crisis is often invisible.

MYTH: Teens only come to shelters because they don’t want to follow rules at home.
FACT: Most come because home is unsafe, unstable, or in crisis. It’s not about rules.

MYTH: Shelters are cold, scary places.
FACT: Our spaces are warm, safe, and made for healing.

MYTH: Shelter Care is only for “bad kids.”
FACT: Most youth come to us because of conflict, neglect, homelessness, or crisis. They need support, not punishment.

At Shelter Care, we meet young people where they are.

We are so grateful for the County of Summit ADM Board and all the wonderful work they do in the community! We are honored to be a part of the ADM Board's Circle of Hope.

A little appreciation goes a long way! The ADM Board staff wanted to share a small token of gratitude with our Circle of Hope members and thank them for their incredible hard work throughout Summit County.

We dropped off workforce development books and writing notebooks for staff members of Shelter Care Inc. to enjoy. Inside each of the notebooks, there is a thank you note as well as more information on our workforce development efforts.

Again, thank you to Shelter Care for being a proud partner of the ADM Board’s Circle of Hope.
