Planting Native Wildflower Areas at our County greenways does more than just add beauty💛

Native flowers support pollinators, like bees and butterflies, which ultimately improves wildlife habitat! They also help reduce erosion and serve as a natural way to manage stormwater.

These naturalized spaces enhance the visitor experience by adding seasonal color and creating more scenic and environmentally friendly greenways for everyone to enjoy.

Small changes in landscaping can make a big impact for conservation, sustainability, and the future of our parks and greenways. Be sure to take in the view or snap a picture the next time you visit!🌻

April is National Garden Month! Here are some basic gardening tips from the Office of Sustainability to make your backyard feel like a Leon County park.

🥕LOCATION:
Choose a location where your plant will thrive the best! Consider how much sun, shade, or water your plant needs.

🌱SOIL:
Fertilize your soil to give your plants the most nutrients! Create natural compost fertilizer using household food scraps and yard debris.

🐝POLLINATORS:
Attracting pollinators is very beneficial to your garden's growth! Choose native plants and allow them to grow to their natural maturity with minimal pruning.
