Last week, we had the honor of celebrating Children’s Week at the Capitol. We are especially proud to share that this year’s Early Learning Leader of the Year is one of our very own ELC of the Big Bend providers, Roy Keister of Scottsdale Academy in Tallahassee.

Roy and his wife, Jennifer, have owned and operated Scottsdale Academy for more than 20 years, building a legacy of excellence in early education right here in our community. Even more special, their three daughters - all Academy graduates - are now actively involved in the family business.

Roy’s leadership extends far beyond his program. He serves on multiple advisory boards and has addressed the Florida House, Senate, and State Board of Education, consistently advocating for policies that strengthen early learning across our state.

His commitment to children, families, and educators reflects the very heart of Children’s Week.

Congratulations, Roy, and thank you for your unwavering dedication to Florida’s youngest learners and to the Big Bend community.
