At approximately 2:07 a.m. on February 17, the Tallahassee Fire Department was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire on Jefferson Road.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the kitchen area of a single-wide mobile home. The home was occupied at the time; however, one occupant had escaped prior to the arrival of emergency crews. Firefighters initiated an aggressive attack, deploying hose lines and quickly knocking down the fire.

Crews completed both a primary and secondary search to confirm no additional occupants were inside the residence. No pets were reported inside the home. The structure was a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Tallahassee Fire Department.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced resident.

Responding units included Engine 16, Engine 7, Fire Medic 1, Rescue 12, Truck 1, Truck 16, Tanker 1, Tanker 12, and the Chaires-Capitola Volunteer Fire Department. TFD was assisted on scene by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County EMS, the American Red Cross, and the Chaires-Capitola Volunteer Fire Department.

Friends of CCVFD, we sincerely apologize for the delay in the clearing of many donation checks that our great neighbors sent us before the holidays (specifically the first two (2) weeks of December).

Due to an issue with the postal service mishandling of our mail, we did not receive many of the donations sent during this time, until yesterday (January 22nd).

If you had sent a donation check, first thank you for your kindness and support of CCVFD, and second we are sorry for the delay.

The checks received yesterday, have now been deposited.

Again, thank you for your understanding and continued support of CCVFD.
