Florida Board of Professional Engineers

Florida Board of Professional Engineers With almost 50,000 licensed engineers in Florida, FBPE is committed to protecting public health and safety by regulating the practice of engineering.

The Florida Legislature has determined, in the interest of public health, life, property and safety, to regulate the practice of engineering in the state of Florida. To accomplish this task the Legislature created Chapter 471, Florida Statutes. As provided in this law, the Florida Board of Professional Engineers is responsible for reviewing applications, administering examinations, licensing quali

fied applicants, and otherwise regulating the practice of engineering throughout the state. Licensees are expected to know the laws and rules governing their professions and are expected to provide services in accordance with current regulations, codes and ordinances and recognized standards. When appropriate, the Board has the authority to discipline those individuals and firms (licensed and unlicensed) that offer or practice engineering in Florida. The Board has the power to suspend, revoke, or refuse to issue, restore or renew licensure for an individual, or place on probation, fine or reprimand any firm, professional engineer, or individual found guilty of violating Florida Statutes and rules. The Board is comprised of 11 members, nine of whom are licensed professional engineers representing multiple disciplines and two laypersons who are not and never have been engineers or members of any closely related profession or occupation. Members are appointed by the Governor for terms of four years each. The function of FBPE's page is to highlight, inform, and promote the importance of Professional Engineer licensure in Florida. While FBPE encourages viewers to actively engage in open communication on our page by contributing comments, we remind visitors that the statements and opinions expressed in posted comments represent only those of the party responsible for the posting and do not reflect the views or goals of FBPE or the State of Florida. Does your Florida PE license show an expiration date of 2025? You likely missed some key steps during your renewal process. Don't delay correcting it, or your license will go null and void in 2027.

Does your Florida PE license still show an expiration date of 2025 even though you paid the renewal fee and completed and reported your continuing education? You likely missed some key steps in the renewal process.
