🚗⚠️ The 100 Deadly Days for Teen Drivers Are Here

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, summer marks a dangerous time for teen drivers. With more young drivers on the road, it’s a time for all of us to be more aware and look out for one another.

Sharing the road safely means:

🚦 Slowing down and watching for less experienced drivers
🚶 Yielding to pedestrians and giving cyclists space
📵 Putting the phone away and staying focused
🛑 Staying patient and predictable behind the wheel

Whether you’re a teen driver or a seasoned motorist, every choice matters. Let’s set the tone for safer roads by looking out for each other.

School’s out, summer is here, and so are the 100 Deadly Days of Summer, the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when teen crashes increase nationwide.

In Florida alone, teen drivers were involved in more than 42,000 crashes in 2024.

This summer let’s flip the script. Parents, start the conversation. Set clear expectations and model safe driving habits.

That’s why regular eye checkups are so important. As we age, our eyes often need more light to clearly see road features, read signs, and to adjust from glare.

Schedule regular checkups to keep your eyes sharp and travel safe.

🌀 Hurricane Preparedness Week

The time to prepare for a potential emergency is before one happens. Having a plan in place now can help reduce stress and keep you safe if an evacuation becomes necessary.

One of the most important steps in hurricane preparedness is knowing where you will go and how you will get there.

Prepare your evacuation plan by knowing your options:
✅ Decide where you plan to stay if you need to evacuate
✅ Identify at least two potential evacuation routes
✅ Map out the best route to each destination outside your evacuation area
✅ Keep your gas tank at least half full during hurricane season

Taking a little time now can make a big difference later.

🏍️ May is National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month 🏍️

Motorcycles are on the road year-round, and safe travel depends on awareness from everyone. Drivers can make a big difference by staying alert and giving riders the space they need.

Safe Mobility for Life partners with Ride Smart Florida to help reduce crashes and improve safety motorcycle riders and their passengers on Florida's roadways.

🚗 Drivers remember:
✅Always give motorcycles a full lane when passing
✅Never attempt to share a lane with a motorcycle

🏍️ Riders can help stay safe by:
✅ Wearing bright or reflective clothing to increase visibility
✅ Using headlights at all times—even during the day
✅ Riding in control and within personal and legal limits

Let’s share the road responsibly this Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.
