On March 18, we had the pleasure of introducing former BVFRD member Joby Jordan when we recognized his promotion to Captain and Deputy Fire Marshal for Madison Township (IN) Fire Department. Today we give him a shoutout for being part of the team highlighted in this swift water rescue that has made national news.

You too can have an impact on your community. Join your local volunteer fire department today.

On Saturday, May 16, Leon County’s Battalion 2 volunteer fire departments (Bradfordville Fire & Rescue, Miccosukee Fire Rescue) and members from Chaires-Capitola Fire & Rescue conducted the inaugural training for the Leon County Volunteer Tender Strike Team (aka Tanker Task Force). The objective of the training was to begin establishing interoperability between the departments during rural water supply via tender shuttle.

Interdepartmental training helps us to better serve the citizens of Leon County.

Tomorrow morning (Saturday May 16) we will be conducting a training operation with our sister department Miccosukee Fire Rescue and partner the City of Tallahassee Fire Department. You may see our tankers driving from Chiles High School to one of the many plantations in our service district North on Thomasville Road (US 319).

We are working to better improve our interoperability and improve our service to you by conducting a tender-shuttle training for areas not serviced by fire hydrants.

Please be mindful and patient if you are driving through the area. The road will be placarded with signs indicating "Trucks entering and leaving highway."

Game night - First Responder edition!
Tonight was our monthly medical training night and the topic? Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI). We conducted a tabletop drill with a scenario of a structural collapse at a local school. The objective? Stabilize the scene as the team with the resources and personnel you have available.

So, while there can only be one (Chief)! This isn't the Highlander, so there's no need to try to hit him with your Highlander. 🗡️

While working a vehicle crash this evening some cars decided to take a stab at the white hat and drive through the scene, making responders play human frogger 🐸 and almost causing another head on collision! 💥

Please remember to slow down for emergency vehicles, follow instructions of those directing traffic and yield to oncoming traffic.
