💫 2026 11 TO SAVE SPOTLIGHT: ACE THEATRE 💫

The Ace Theatre is one of the last surviving landmarks in Miami’s historic Black Grove community, also known as West Grove or Little Bahamas, that was founded in the late 19th century by Bahamian settlers. Built in 1930, the theatre served African American moviegoers in the Coconut Grove community during segregation, often staging live performances along with films.

Although listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016, the Ace Theatre is threatened by a combination of advanced physical deterioration and external development pressures that put its long-term survival at risk. Located in one of Florida’s recently designated Main Street Program, inclusion on this year’s 11 to Save list raises critical awareness and builds timely support for preservation action to save an irreplaceable piece of the community’s history.

Congratulations again to the Ace Theatre and stay tuned for more monthly 11 to Save spotlights!

💫 2026 PRESERVATION AWARD WINNER SPOTLIGHT: St. Philip's Episcopal Church in the Conservation, Preservation, Maintenance and Repair category 💫

Established as the city’s first African American Episcopalian church, and the second in the state of Florida, St. Philip’s 1906 Gothic Revival sanctuary required new exterior stucco, renovation of the stained-glass windows with protective coverings, wood rot repair and a new drainage system. The exterior renovation of St. Philip’s was a multi-year, multi-grant funded project recently completed in the heart of downtown Jacksonville. The project is a successful renovation of a landmarked building built by parishioners from the ashes of the Great Fire of 1901 as designed by the first licensed female architect in Florida.

St. Philip's Episcopal Church stands as a testament to restoring a rare remnant of the former African American Hansontown community.

Congratulations again to St. Philips, and stay tuned for more monthly Preservation Award winner spotlights!

🎶🎵 There is no city in America that celebrates the holidays quite like New Orleans — and this December, we would love for you to experience it firsthand!🎷🎹

The Florida Trust for Historic Preservation, Inc. has partnered with Project Por Amor and the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans to bring our members a six-day holiday immersion in the heart of the Crescent City. Through the lens of history, architecture, music, food and community, we'll encounter living traditions that have shaped life in South Louisiana for centuries. We'll dine at a classic Réveillon dinner at Brennan's Restaurant witness the fiery spectacle of gumbo cook-offs and Cajun music at the Festival of the Bonfires along the Mississippi River and step inside beautifully preserved historic homes dressed for the season during the PRC's celebrated Holiday Home Tour. We'll stroll beneath centuries-old live oaks glowing with lights in New Orleans City Park and gather for intimate live music performances and conversations with local historians, cultural stewards and community voices.

Woven throughout are the moments that define New Orleans at its best: long meals, layered histories, spontaneous music and the deep sense of place that emerges when preservation and living culture meet.

We hope you will join us! For more on this unforgettable holiday journey, check out the brochure here with registration information: https://ow.ly/LVCy50Z7fp6 and our itinerary filled with classic New Orleans exploration sure to be remembered: https://ow.ly/YEOX50Z7fp7!
