Being a mom, daughter, and wife I realized how society has changed over the years. Having two Afican American sons of my own and constantly hearing about young black men being incarcerated it came close to my heart to do something. So,one day me and one of my close friends were talking and she begin to share with me about how she was considered about the youth in the community and how they were going to prison. After, our conversation she said, why don’t we do something about it...I immediately said, lets do it. So, she asked me what are you going to call the program that you want to start,I said “Cassie”,she then asked who is “Cassie”, I replied me.She begin to laugh, and said,ok.She had already told me about her family members that had been in incarcerated and still are,and I shared with her how I now work with ex-felons that deal with mental disorders. Therefore, everyday we began a journey of continious learning about convicted felons...see, my friend had already worked in Atlanta with a program there called,First Steps. Therefore, we collabrated on what we knew about rehabilitation, and we now want to introduce,Cassie,a program for ex-felons,that we hope to help educate, and encourage those that feel like they have no hope,we want them to know,Cassie’s is here to help.
