πŸ’™ Community Support Request – Helping Families Get to Palmer Place

At Palmer Place – Talladega County Child Advocacy Center, many of the children and families we serve travel from across Talladega County β€” and sometimes from outside the county as well β€” to receive services such as advocacy, counseling, and forensic interviews. For some families, even the cost of gas or a quick meal during the day can be a challenge.

We are asking for help from our community by donating:

β›½ Gas cards in denominations of $10 or $20
πŸ” Gift cards to fast-food or casual restaurants

These small cards can make a big difference. They help families cover travel expenses to appointments and sometimes allow a child to enjoy a small treat after a difficult visit β€” maybe a milkshake, some french fries, or a quick meal before heading home.

Gift cards can be brought directly to Palmer Place, or they may be dropped off at the following locations. If dropping off at a law enforcement agency, please simply let them know the donation is for Palmer Place:

β€’ Talladega County Sheriff’s Office – Talladega
β€’ Talladega County Sheriff’s Office – Sylacauga
β€’ Talladega Police Department
β€’ Sylacauga Police Department
β€’ Lincoln Police Department
β€’ Childersburg Police Department

Every act of kindness helps us continue supporting children and families in Talladega County.

Thank you for helping us grow hope and protect children. πŸ’™

If you have questions or would like additional information about donating, please contact Palmer Place.

Elderly Scam/ Fraudulent Use of a Credit/Debit Card

On November 13, 2025 and November 10, 2025, we received two separate reports from elderly victims being approached by a black male in his early 30’s, approaching elderly males and referring to them as β€œUnc” and leading the victims to believe that they are related. The suspect is then telling the victim a story of needing money or needing to borrow their debit cards to make a small purchase. With the victims believing that they are somehow related, they agree to help the suspect, and they give them their debit card. The suspect is then using the debit cards to make large purchases. The first incident occurred inside Walmart and the second in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.

On November 13, 2025, we received a third report of a similar incident that appears to be related. This incident occurred in the Walmart parking lot. Investigators are currently working all three of these cases but in the meantime, please share this information with family members and friends and never allow anyone to use your debit or credit cards.

Some reports indicate that the suspect is a black male in his early to mid 30’s and clean shaven. Other reports indicate that the suspect may have a beard. Anyone with information pertaining to either of these cases are asked to contact investigators at 256-362-4508 or 256-362-4163.
