Sunday, Sept 6, 2026:

🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE: PARK RESTROOMS

Today, we reopened the restrooms at Talking Rock Park. Unfortunately, within hours, we were faced with another serious incident.

Someone forced open a secured, out-of-order stall in the men’s restroom, urinated across the floor, and defecated in the broken toilet.

This was not an accident or normal wear and tear. Someone deliberately entered an area that had been secured shut and left an unsanitary mess for someone else to clean up.

At this point, we simply cannot continue to offer unrestricted access to the public restrooms.

The restrooms will be temporarily closed while the Town puts additional security and access-control measures in place. These measures may create some inconvenience when the restrooms reopen, but today’s incident makes it clear they are necessary.

We WANT these facilities open for our residents, families and visitors. Our goal is still to reopen them — but when we do, access will have to look different.

We understand there may be complaints about the closure or inconvenience of additional security. To anyone who feels the Town should simply leave the restrooms open, we welcome volunteers willing to help monitor the facilities — or help clean and sanitize them each time something like this happens. Unfortunately, expecting Town staff and volunteers to repeatedly deal with intentional vandalism and human waste is not a reasonable solution.

It is unfortunate that the actions of a few will now affect everyone. Please help us protect OUR park and the public facilities that belong to all of us.

Friday, Sept 4, 2026:
‼️URGENT PARK UPDATES‼️

Due to repeated vandalism, the Town has been left with no options but to lock the restrooms at the Park Pavilion until further notice. Anyone renting the pavilion will be give access to the facilities during their rental period. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any information pertaining to the vandalization of the town’s restrooms, you are encouraged to call 706-253-5515.

The paved parking lot at the pavilion will be closed until approximately 4pm today while the pavilion gets a fresh coat of paint. The park can still be accessed ~ we ask you stay clear of the pavilion while the painting is being completed and to give it time to dry. Thank you!

Our Talking Rock Little Free Food Community Pantry is running low, and we’re asking our amazing community to help us RESTOCK THE SHELVES!

This pantry is here for one simple reason: neighbors helping neighbors. Anyone who needs a little extra support can take what they need, and anyone who is able can help by leaving something behind.

🛒 ITEMS WE’D LOVE TO RESTOCK:
• Canned meats – tuna, chicken, Vienna sausages
• Canned soups, chili & pasta meals
• Peanut butter
• Canned vegetables & fruit
• Beans, rice & pasta
• Mac & cheese
• Oatmeal & cereal
• Granola bars & individually packaged snacks
• Crackers
• Shelf-stable milk
• Easy-to-prepare meal items
