Seventeen years after the formation of the National Federation of Republican Women(NFRW) in 1938, the Texas Federation of Republican Women’s Clubs (TFRW) was organized. Individual Republican women’s clubs had been in existence in Texas prior to the organization of the National Federation, but it was not until 1955 that clubs existed in 75% of the state’s congressional districts, which was required
for membership to the national organization. In October of 1955, more that 300 delegates met in the White Plaza Hotel in San Antonio for an organizational convention. O’Callaghan of San Antonio was elected President of the new Federation. The members of Republican Women of Northeast Texas (RWNT) are members of the National Federation of Republican Women and the Texas Federation of Republican Women. RWNT represents Republican Women in Camp, Franklin, Morris, Red River, Titus and Upshur Counties. The organizational meeting was held on March 15, 1997 in the home of Claudia
Rocha in Mt. The first elected officers were:
President - Claudia Rocha Vice President - Maggie Boerner
