Our statements on the Montgomery County Council bills on public safety and policing heard on Tuesday. Expanding the Mobile Crisis Response Team and establishing use of force standards are a good first step, but the MoCo Council should make that first step bigger.

Applications to be on the Takoma Park Youth Council for the 2020-2021 school year are now open! The Youth Council was created three years ago as an advisory committee to the City Council, representing the interests of youth in our city government. We meet every two weeks to discuss issues pertaining to youth in the city and plan events where youth can engage with their community. The charter and all meeting agendas and minutes are up on the Council’s website if you'd like more information. If you are interested in government and community service, a Takoma Park resident, and a rising 7th - 12th grade student, you should take advantage of this incredible opportunity to be a part of your city government. Welcome to the brand new Youth Council page! If you're a Takoma Park teen between the ages of 12 and 17 with a GPA of at least 2.5, you're encouraged to apply for next year's Youth Council! It's a great opportunity to learn about how city government works and to make a real change at the local level. If you can't apply this year, you can still share this post or tag someone who fits that description below ⬇️
