This past weekend, Lt. Elfadl, A/Cpl. Haines and Pvt. Ticas had the privilege of attending the Special Olympics Maryland (SOMD) Summer Games in Towson.

Our officers had an incredible time cheering on athletes, handing out medals, taking photos, and participating in the Run for the Flame of Hope alongside law enforcement agencies from across Maryland to help light the cauldron during the Opening Ceremony.

A special thank you to Lt. Pedersen for making it possible for these officers to attend. The athletes absolutely loved interacting with them, and our officers came away inspired by the determination, sportsmanship, and spirit displayed throughout the games.

And there's more exciting news! A Takoma Park Police officer has been featured on Special Olympics Maryland's brand-new mobile dunk tank, the "Plunge Patrol." πŸ‘€πŸ’¦

We'll let you take a look at the photos and see which officer earned that honor!

Thank you, Special Olympics Maryland, for another unforgettable weekend of inclusion, courage, and community. Special Olympics Maryland

Today, PIO Plevy was off duty and off the clock! 🌈

Instead of sharing police department updates, she was out enjoying all the fun, energy, and community spirit at the Takoma Park Pride festivities. From colorful outfits and smiling faces to music, laughter, and lots of love, it was a beautiful day to celebrate inclusion and community.

Sometimes even the PIO gets to put away the press releases and simply enjoy the party! β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ

Happy Pride, Takoma Park! 🌈

We recognize and thank the dedicated crossing guards who help keep our community safe every day.

In Takoma Park, our crossing guards do much more than help pedestrians cross the street. They greet children on their way to school, provide a reassuring presence for families, and help ensure that everyone can travel safely through our neighborhoods. Whether standing in the heat, rain, cold, or snow, they show up with professionalism, patience, and a commitment to public safety.

We are grateful for their hard work, dedication, and the care they show to our residents each day. Their efforts make a meaningful difference in the lives of our children, families, and community members.

To all of our crossing guards: thank you for all that you do. Takoma Park appreciates you!
