We are being hit with a wave of ice and snow which has resulted in a huge influx of vehicles accidents. Curretly on the North side which includes Neilton, Amanda Park, and Queets it is snowing with a temperature of 33 degrees.
Moclips and Taholah although no snow, the roads are already icy.

We encourage you to stay inside and keep warm unless absolutely necessary. Due to weather conditions and distance, an extended eta may occur for our law enforcement officers to respond in a safe manner. Please be cautious and as always be safe!

⚠️ US HWY 101 Milepost 136⚠️

Quinault Nation Police Department just got done leading a group of vehicles through the interior from Queets. Although the interior road is open, we do not recommend it as the weather is unpredictable and it will be dark soon. If you choose to take this route, use it at your own risk. As always if you have an emergency please call 911, there may be an extended ETA.

Please be safe.

5:07 p.m. FINAL: US 101 has reopened. Thank you for your patience while crews made critical repairs.

--------------------------------

4:21 p.m. UPDATE: US 101 remains closed north of Amanda Park and Lake Quinault in Grays Harbor County. Crews have been hauling in material all day to make repairs that will allow us to reopen the roadway. We know this has been frustrating for travelers having to wait. We're just not quite there yet. There is no detour. Thank you for your patience.

--------------------------------

9:57 a.m. UPDATE: US 101 is still closed north of Amanda Park and Lake Quinault in Grays Harbor County. The west side of the Peninsula received a lot of rain on Friday, Aug. 14, and during the overnight hours. This resulted in several work zones with water over the roadway and erosion.

These issues are being addressed now by our contractor. Crews are working as quick as possible to make the repairs and reopen the highway, but we don't have an estimated time for reopening just yet. We appreciate your continued patience.

--------------------------------

CLOSURE: US 101 west of Amanda Park is closed until further notice due to water over the roadway. There are no detour routes available.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will monitor the situation. Workers are bringing in extra pumps to help remove the water.

Once the water recedes, crews will inspect the roadway to determine if repairs are needed to reopen it. It is unknown at this time when the highway will reopen.

Please do not drive through road closed signs. Emergency vehicles will be able to use the roadway.
