Today we held our change of command ceremony, welcoming aboard Chief Floyd, and bidding fair well to Bosn Ott. Presiding over the ceremony was Sector San Francisco Commanding Officer, Captain Baldueza. Thank you to everyone who joined us today, including our local Auxiliary and fellow Sector San Francisco members.

Today the station had the opportunity to meet California Governor Gavin Newsom and to assist the local UC Davis field station in taking the governor on a familiarization ride. Continuing to build state and federal relationships helps us to ensure Lake Tahoe remains clean and safe for the many people who visit every year.

We’ve been busy with this last storm that dumped a ton of snow on the station and surrounding area. Great job to the crew that was on duty, keeping everything clear so we can continue to operate! Here’s a couple before and after pics!

We are tracking a large winter storm expected to start in our area Thursday. Please be safe in these crazy conditions!

A Blizzard Warning has been issued for the following locations:

❄ Lassen-E Plumas-E Sierra Co: 4 AM Thu-4 AM Sun
❄ Greater Lake Tahoe Area: 10 AM Thu-10 AM Sun
❄ Mono County: 4 PM Thu-10 AM Sun

⚠ Do not travel during this period. Whiteout conditions with periods of near-zero visibility will make travel extremely dangerous if not impossible. If you do travel, bring a winter survival kit with you as you may get stranded in your vehicle for an extended period of time.
