We were proud to have Help In Crisis represented at the Partners for Change Conference this week!
Our team had the opportunity to share two presentations with professionals committed to strengthening services for survivors. Executive Director Laura Kuester presented “What’s In Your Backpack?”—a conversation about leadership, the weight we carry, and learning to share the load. Our Director of Shelter Operations, Shronn Schuelke, presented “Compassion in the Chaos,” sharing insight from the important work happening every day in shelter services.
We were also excited to see our community partner Jake Carey with the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office participate in a panel discussion about the Lethality Assessment Protocol and the importance of collaboration in responding to domestic violence.
We are grateful for opportunities like this to learn from one another, strengthen partnerships, and share what we’ve learned through this work. Creating safer communities takes all of us, and we’re thankful to be surrounded by professionals and partners who are committed to making a difference.
It was a great conference, and we came home encouraged, inspired, and ready to keep doing the work. 💜

Strong partnerships help create safer communities. Help In Crisis is grateful for our partnership with the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) team and for the opportunity to provide training alongside our local law enforcement agencies on the Lethality Assessment Protocol. The LAP is an important tool that helps law enforcement identify individuals who may be at increased risk and connect them with domestic violence service providers and support. We appreciate the professionals who invest their time in learning, collaborating, and strengthening the response available to survivors throughout our community. 💜 Learn more about Help In Crisis at helpincrisisinc.org or call (918) 456-0673.

🚨NOW HIRING: PT Survivor Advocate🚨

Do you have the ability to:
✨ listen without judgment
✨ stay calm in chaos
✨ survive on caffeine and compassion
✨ and fight for people like it’s your calling?

Perfect. We should probably talk. 💛

Help In Crisis is looking for a PT Survivor Advocate to walk alongside survivors of domestic violence and s*xual assault with empathy, courage, and hope.

This isn’t your average 9-to-5. One minute you might be helping someone find safety, the next you’re cheering on a survivor who just took their first step toward healing. The work is hard, holy, heartbreaking, and life-changing—all at once.

We’re looking for someone who believes people deserve dignity, safety, and a future beyond abuse.

Bonus points if you:
✔️ can handle crisis with grace
✔️ know trauma-informed care matters
✔️ believe healing happens in relationships
✔️ and occasionally enjoy office snacks and emotional support memes

At Help In Crisis, we believe in “Loving People Back to Life.” If that speaks to your heart, we’d love to hear from you. Email resume to [email protected]
