📣 Investing in Better Communication Starts With Learning!

Last week, City of Tahlequah Communications Director Karen Murphy had the opportunity to attend the 2026 3CMA - City-County Communications & Marketing Association Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado — and what an incredible experience it was!
More than 800 local government communicators from across the country came together to share ideas, experiences and best practices about what’s working, what’s changing and what’s next in government communications.

This year’s theme, “Peak Performance – Achieving New Heights in Local Government Communications,” focused on topics including emerging technology, public engagement, crisis communication, storytelling, accessibility and building public trust.
Karen came home with new ideas, new tools and plenty of inspiration to put to work right here in Tahlequah. Just as importantly, she had the opportunity to connect with other city and county communicators from around the country and learn from their experiences.

We’re proud to support professional development that helps our team continue finding new and better ways to inform, engage and connect with our community.

It was an honor to participate in the OK Cherokee County Veterans Council’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the VFW this morning.

Mayor Suzanne Myers shared some words honoring this day, and Fire Chief Mark Whitmore served as a guest speaker. Chief Whitmore was also presented with a commemorative coin from the Cherokee County Veterans Council in recognition of his service and dedication.

We are grateful for those who continue to remember, honor, and serve our community and our nation. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 **Remembering September 11, 2001**

Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the heroes who ran toward danger to help others.

On this 25th anniversary, the City of Tahlequah honors their courage, remembers their sacrifice, and reflects on the unity that brought our nation together.

**We remember. We honor. We will never forget.** 🇺🇸
