A letter from the branch manager:
To our Amazing Readers and Partners,
Thank you for helping us “Unearth A Story” this summer!
Our library was filled throughout June and July with children, teens, adults, and families reading, learning, creating, exploring, and simply enjoying being together.
This summer, 388 readers registered for our Summer Reading Program. Together, all ages logged a whopping 265,471 minutes of reading, earned 3,220 digital badges, and recorded 180 program completions.
Additionally, we offered 61 Summer Reading programs and activities, with a combined 2,509 attendees and participants. Our community dug into everything from dinosaurs, birds of prey, puppets, magic, bubbles, crafts, movies, and storytimes to programs for teens and adults. The library was quite literally full of creativity, discovery, and plenty of what we like to call “wonderfully organized chaos.”
We were also able to put books directly into the hands of our community. During these summer months, we gave away approximately 1,686 brand new books to the public. Those books left the library to begin or continue someone’s lifelong journey of reading.
It is important to know that none of this happens by accident.
Summer Reading requires performers, supplies, prizes, books, activities, and countless other resources. We could not have done this without the wonderful and generous support of individuals and organizations within our community. We so appreciate those who've chosen to partner with us in helping children discover a favorite book, giving families something they can enjoy together and creating a place where our community can gather, explore, and grow.
On behalf of everyone at Tahlequah Public Library, I want to extend a heartfelt "THANK YOU" to all of our participants and partners. We are incredibly grateful that you helped make Summer Reading 2026 possible!
