He Bit the %! #@ Out of Me

Deebo Strikes again on his 7th capture. As our newest K9, he's wasted no time learning how this works. On June 1st at 10:08 p.m., deputies responded to a domestic violence altercation that involved a male punching a family member in the face and fleeing the scene on foot. Probable cause was established for domestic violence assault, and K9 Deebo knew it was time to go to work. We received multiple calls from residents reporting that a suspicious male was in their backyards. The description matched the suspect that had fled the domestic violence altercation.

Deebo quickly gets the track and goes to work. He traveled through some backyards and into some thick brush when he spotted the 36-year-old male suspect bunkered down in the woods. The male gives up and is taken into custody. He gets cleared by Fire and is later booked into the Pierce County Jail for assault in the 4th degree/DV.

Gone, but not forgotten. 💙

During this year's Law Enforcement Remembrance event, Washington State Patrol Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting’s name was added to the Pierce County Law Enforcement Memorial Wall at the County-City Building in Tacoma.

The memorial is a daily reminder of the sacrifice these brave men and women made for our community. May we never forget their courage and dedication to Pierce County.

K9 Deebo Sports New Vest

We recently received a generous donation from a Pierce County couple to purchase a K9 Storm SWAT ballistic-resistant vest. Not all our dogs have these vests, and we are incredibly grateful for the support to our K9 Unit. Because of them, K9 Deebo is better equipped to serve and protect our community while having an added layer of protection in the face of danger.

Protective vests are a critical piece of equipment for law enforcement K9s. These specially designed vests help shield our canine partners from ballistic threats, stab injuries, and other hazards they may encounter in the line of duty. K9s often enter dangerous situations alongside their handlers, placing themselves at risk to protect others. The protection provided by this equipment can mean the difference between life and death, allowing these dedicated partners to perform their duties more safely and effectively.

This thoughtful contribution has made a lasting impact on K9 Deebo, his handler, and the community he serves. Thank you for helping protect one of our most valuable officers.

Deputies Honored for Heroic Actions

Recently, Deputy Dolan and Deputy Beddo were recognized by the Southern California Gang Conference for their courage, service, and heroism for the apprehension of a dangerous gang member in December of 2023. You may recall the video that was released in March of 2026.

Deputy Dolan received the Alex Collins Award, presented to law enforcement officers who demonstrate extraordinary courage. Deputy Beddo was honored with the Service, Sacrifice, and Heroism Award for his outstanding actions during a critical incident on December 12, 2023.

What began as an attempt to stop a suspected impaired driver quickly escalated into a dangerous encounter. Unbeknownst to responding deputies, the suspect was a member of a white supremacist gang, wanted in connection with a recent double homicide, and armed with a handgun equipped with an extended magazine. During the incident, both deputies were struck by gunfire. Thanks to protective equipment, training, and determination, one deputy was saved by his armored vest, while the other sustained a grazing wound and avoided serious injury.
Every day, our deputies put on the badge knowing they may face the unexpected. Their commitment to protecting our community, even in the face of extreme danger, exemplifies the highest traditions of law enforcement service.

"Courage is being scared to death… and saddling up anyway." — John Wayne

Congratulations, Deputy Dolan and Deputy Beddo, and thank you for your bravery and dedication to the citizens of Pierce County.

Over the Weekend 6-1-26

#1 Homicide Suspects in Custody, Others Outstanding

Over the weekend, we arrested two of the suspects involved in the May 24th homicide of the 17-year-old young man. We are not finished yet, and we will not stop until everyone is in custody. On May 31st, around 11:30 p.m., we received a message from the Tulalip Police Department that they had one of our homicide suspects in custody. The 26-year-old female had been arrested at the Walmart in Tulalip by Tulalip PD. It was later learned she had been traveling with a 25-year-old male suspect from the homicide case when he had been arrested by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office for other felony warrants earlier in the day. The male was currently in custody at the Snohomish County Jail. Detectives responded to Tulalip to take custody of the female and made arrangements with the Snohomish County Jail to take custody of the male suspect. Both were booked into the Pierce County Jail. This remains an ongoing investigation. There are persons of interest who remain outstanding.

#2 Motor Vehicle Collision with One Airlifted

This next incident was a single motor vehicle collision into a tree in the Wilkeson area of the Quinnon Extension Rd E. The male driver and female passenger had been in the area for recreational purposes when the vehicle veered off the road. The 26-year-old female was trapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was then airlifted to a local hospital in critical condition. A huge thank you to Tanner and Christian, who are two members of the Pierce County Explorer Search and Rescue. They had already been in the area for training and were able to use important radio equipment to notify 911 of the incident since there was no cell service.

#3 Pierce County Sheriff’s Car Show

This last event is a positive event we just have to share. Our first-ever Pierce County Sheriff's Car Show was a huge success at Spanaway Lake Park on May 29th. Over 300 vehicles participated, and around 800 spectators came from all around to check out the cool rides. With food trucks, lit-up cars, fun music, and giveaways, even our deputies had a little too much fun hanging out with the community.

2 K9 Better Than 1

On May 26th, around 6:45 p.m., deputies responded to the 9200 block of 148th St. Ct. E in the Puyallup/South Hill area for a large domestic violence altercation that was occurring in the street. Several residents reported shots were fired and people were screaming and running. Surveillance captures the suspect firing shots towards a group of people. When deputies arrived, they learned the suspect who fired shots had fled on foot.

K9 Coda was called to the scene to assist in locating the suspect. It was reported the male suspect had jumped a fence and was hiding in some tall grass in a retention pond area. It did not take long for deputies to locate the suspect, who was bunkered down in tall grass with no shirt on.

The 24-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into the Pierce County Jail for 5 counts of Assault in the first degree, kidnapping in the 1st degree for not allowing his girlfriend to leave, and unlawful possession of a firearm in the 1st degree. The gun had not been located yet, and there was concern a youth or other person would find the gun and hurt themselves. A second K9 track was led, but this time K9 Clark assisted with locating the gun in some bushes near a neighborhood park. After 30 minutes of searching, the firearm used in the crime was located.

Great job to all the deputies and K9s involved in this incident.

Mail Thief Caught Red-Handed

Stealing mail can have serious consequences, in this case, the mail thief is caught red handed and lands himself in jail with a felony crime.

On May 23rd around 8am, a male suspect is seen stealing mail from a mailbox. What he doesn't realize, is one of our detectives was in the area at the same time watching what he was doing. The male was observed continuing down the road and opening several other mailboxes to steal the contents. The detective makes contact to recover the mail from the suspect and arrest him. He tells the detective he was collecting the mail for other family members, and he was only going to look at it, then put it down. One of the packages contained important medication for one of the victims.

In total, 17 mailboxes had been opened. Of those 17 mailboxes, 10 victims had mail stolen. The 24-year-old male was booked into the Pierce County Jail for 10 counts of mail theft and 2 confirmed warrants for possession of stolen vehicle and theft in the third degree. The detective then went and returned all 10 pieces of each of the victim's mail. He even returned the important medication.

The day ended nicely with a wonderful thank you note from the victim to our social media page! Our detectives are working hard each day solving crimes, and even though you may not see them, they are always watching.
