Latasha Palmer understands firsthand the challenges of navigating broken systems and the powerlessness felt during loved ones’ struggles. As a holistic security advocate, Latasha is prepared for this challenge, dedicated to economic security, personal safety, housing stability, and climate resilience for all. Housing Security: fighting homelessness, expanding community land trusts, and keeping housing affordable. Personal Security: promoting evidence-based, community-led public safety solutions. Economic Security: supporting small businesses, promoting cooperatives, and ensuring fair wages. Climate Security: championing sustainable industries and protecting communities from environmental harm. Not a career politician but a mother, organizer, and advocate, Latasha is ready to lead Tacoma forward. My thoughts are with everyone affected by the stabbing at Foss High School today. We've gotta do better. The kids aren't all right.

The results are in!

And in true Council fashion, I am interpreting the data how I want 🤣

Just kidding, just kidding...

I heard that people want both in-person one-on-ones AND in-person group sessions.

But... seeing as I'd like to be available as often as possible, and I need to make sure I leave time to complete the work y'all ask me to do, I've decided one-on-ones will start off virtually. You can sign up for a slot here: https://calendly.com/cotcouncil/cm-palmer-office-hours?month=2026-04

And we will continue in-person group hangouts, circling through the five council districts. I'd love to hear your suggestions on good days and times.

Which one should you sign up for or go to? Easy!

Sign up for a virtual one-on-one if you have an issue that mostly affects you or your immediate neighbors, or if others would need a lot of background information before participating in the conversation.

Show up at group hangouts if your topic is something most Tacoma residents would benefit from discussing together.

Sounds respectful and fair, right?

Stay tuned for May hangout times!

Sound Transit is facing a budget crisis that will impact projects across the region. While there’s a lot of nuance to what is being considered by Sound Transit (including cost saving project adjustments, new revenue sources, and internal policy updates), the most important thing you need to know is this: NOW is the time to SPEAK UP for Pierce County Projects.

TAKE ACTION NOW (links in comments):

1. Submit our action letter telling Sound Transit to get Link to Tacoma Dome, study the next extension of the T-Line, and invest in Sounder South – or customize it with your own priorities! [Est 1 – 5 minutes]

2. Complete Sound Transit’s survey with the same priorities, telling them to preserve Pierce County projects! [Est 5 – 10 minutes]

3. Provide virtual or in-person comments at the April 23rd Sound Transit board meeting in Seattle. You may have to wait an hour or more for your turn, but it’s important to have Pierce County voices at this meeting!

4. Join TOTG and Transportation Choices Coalition for an in-person Sound Transit Town Hall on April 27th with board members Executive Mello and Council Member Walker. This will focus on Pierce County projects.

The Sound Transit Board of Directors is expected to make their proposal at the May 21st board meeting, so NOW is the time to make your voice heard and let the board know that PIERCE COUNTY WANTS LIGHT RAIL!

Can I just say what an amazing job this crew is doing?!

I fully expected to drive over branches and limbs from the wind storm Wednesday night as I drove my kids to school the next morning and Sprague was already cleared.

We appreciate the hard work of the Street Operations team during this unexpected weather.

The City of Tacoma’s Street Operations crews will continue its snow and ice response through Sunday. Tree clearing crews will be working during daylight hours on Saturday.

Hello everyone! As you may have seen, I've been experimenting with in-person happy hours and hangouts to hear more from you.

So far, I've had one where I was able to talk to a handful of people, one where nobody showed up, one where an understanding constituent waited patiently while I was running late, and one where I thought nobody showed, but people couldn't locate me in the building.

Needless to say, these events are new and a work in progress. I want them to be as useful as possible. Please comment and let me know your preferred format. What is the best way for us to stay in touch?

A) Continue with in-person, low-key, drop-in hangouts, cycling through council district locations (making it easier to find where I am in the building)

B) Continue in-person hangouts, but offer 15-minute slots to speak one-on-one

C) Change to a virtual group hangout

D) Change to a virtual hangout with 15-minute sign-up slots for one-on-one breakouts

E) Other

What do you think?
