Point Defiance Marina

Point Defiance Marina The Marina is located in Point Defiance Park and has been putting people on the water since 1903! Point Defiance Marina is a facility of Parks Tacoma.

We offer boat rentals, pier fishing, a public boat launch, a tackle and gift shop, and a waterfront walk. Please be aware your comments are subject to public disclosure laws and will be screened periodically for the following:

The next Grit City Litter Cleanup at the Point Defiance Marina will be Saturday, June 20 from 9am-12pm!

Join community volunteers to clean up areas around the Point Defiance Marina, Owen Beach, Promenade, and the surrounding park. We couldn’t do it without you and many helping hands are welcome and all necessary supplies will be provided.

These are great opportunities for families, school groups, neighbors, and anyone interested in helping!

Winners of the kids' fishing competition at the July 1951 Poggie Club Salmon Derby. Per the image description, winners from left to right were:

"Gary Anderson, sixth-place winner; Ronald Robbecke, first boys' prize with his catch which weighed 16 pounds, 13 ounces; Caryn Ann Piper, first girls' prize with her salmon which weighed 15 pounds, 4 ounces; Chuck Lucich, fourth prize, and Jim Johnson, fifth prize. The third place winner, David Rivett, was not present when this picture was taken."

Our next Fish Tales at the Marina will be Thursday, June 11 🐟

We will be reading 'Ploof' by Ben Clanton & Andy Chou Musser, followed by a quick movement activity, then a fun cloud craft! ☁

Per WDFW’s Salmon Fishing Current Blog: Marine Area 11 will open daily for salmon fishing from June 1–30, or until quota is met.

We will be running our Just for Fun Fishing Derby in June!

If you are interested in participating in the June Derby:
⚓ Chinook minimum size is 22" - other salmon species, no min. size.
🎏 Daily limit is 2, including no more than 1 Chinook. Release chum and wild chinook.
🎣 Salmon can be caught from our public fishing pier year-round. Salmon caught from the Boathouse pier can be entered into the derby all month long.

To participate in the derby: catch a legal salmon, bring your fish to the Marina Store, have it weighed and receive a Derby Ticket, then get ready to win prizes!
