Duck Daze is only a few days away! Come celebrate with us this Saturday, June 6 starting at 10 a.m. with our annual Duck Daze Parade!

The parade begins at 29th Street, traveling in the southbound lanes of Bridgeport Way, crossing to the northbound lanes at 35th Street, and ending at 37th Street Court towards Drexler Drive.

With this wonderful parade and day filled with tons of fun, we do have road closures to make sure the event can run safely and smoothly!

On Saturday, June 6:
🚧Bridgeport Way will be closed from 27th St to 40th St from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
🚧Market Place West will be closed at 6 a.m.
🚧Drexler Drive via 40th street at 9 a.m.

Please plan accordingly and remember, there's free parking available below the Civic Building, accessible from Drexler Drive and 35th Street.

Make sure to wear red, white and blue to celebrate USA 250 along with yellow for a Ducktastic day! See you June 6 at 10 a.m., rain or shine!

Last night, West Pierce Fire & Rescue’s Rescue Tech team safely extricated a 13-year-old stuck in a 13-by-9-inch chimney!

Crews were able to get the patient out by creating an opening through the wall and brick. No reported injuries. Well done!

Last month, West Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to 1,545 calls for service. To put that in perspective, that’s an average of 50 calls per day. 🚒

Approximately 79% of those responses were for emergency medical aid. 🚑

Calling all fire history enthusiasts! 📢

A new Lakewood Fire Department exhibit is now on display at the Lakewood History Museum! Step back in time and explore historic firefighting gear, photos from decades past, and newspaper clippings highlighting major responses that helped shape our community.

The exhibit officially debuts at tonight’s Lakewood Street Festival from 4pm to 7pm. If you’re attending, be sure to stop by and check it out! And if you can’t make it tonight, don’t worry... the display will be there for the foreseeable future.

Exploring our history is a great reminder of how far we’ve come as a fire department and a community. A special thank you to the team from West Pierce Fire & Rescue who put together this awesome trip through time. Go check it out! 👏
