Flying ‘seats out’ with your legs over the edge has many practical purposes. What they don’t tell you is that your butt goes numb from the vibrations and your legs are cold as hell whipping through the night air for hours on end. Lessons were learned that night.

Headed back to base in the Shkin area and we got hit with an ambush and then an IED. Luckily the body armor and a Taliban mistake prevented serious injury, but there were many lessons learned that day. Notice the line on his back where the body armor stopped and where the shrapnel hit. It was one of the incidents that led us to eventually create the Quick Reference Guides that launched our business.
