Grateful to join Goodwill for their luncheon at Point Ruston and learn more about the incredible work they’re doing to support workforce development and economic opportunity. 🤝🏾

In a rapidly changing economy, access to skills, training, and pathways to employment matters more than ever. It was great to hear insights on how we can better prepare people for today’s workforce and the future ahead.

Organizations like Goodwill are helping people build stability and opportunity — and that’s work worth lifting up. 💜

Great to spend time with University of Washington Tacoma Sports Enterprise Management students at the Tacoma Rainiers game. ⚾💜

As a founding advisory board member for the program, it’s always meaningful to connect with students and hear their ideas during conversations like this. These kinds of experiences — learning, connecting, and building relationships outside the classroom — matter.

This is what strong higher education and workforce pathways look like, and it’s work I’ll continue to support in Olympia.

It was really meaningful to spend time with students at the Washington YMCA Youth Legislative Session. Being in the House Chamber and seeing so many young people engaged in this process is something I do not take for granted. Thank you for having me and for creating space for young people to step into this work. 🫶🏾

I shared a bit of my path to public service, but what stayed with me most was hearing how students are already thinking about their communities and the change they want to see. That matters. Youth voice matters. I left feeling encouraged about what comes next. ✨

Thankful to have joined colleagues from across the country in Denver for the National Black Caucus of State Legislators. 🖤🏛️

It was great to be there with my colleague, Rep. Jamila Taylor and connect with Rep. Jolanda Jones from Texas: strong leaders doing important work in their communities.

Opportunities like this help strengthen the work we bring back to Washington — grounded in shared learning, collaboration, and a commitment to equity. 💜

Stop ✌🏾of my 28th Legislative District FAFSA Completion Tour is this Wednesday at Steilacoom High School. 🎓

I’ll be talking with scholars about higher education, workforce pathways, financial aid, and the importance of finding the path that fits their goals and passions.

Here's a look at the current tour stops:
👉🏾 Stop 1 — Harrison Preparatory School in Lakewood
👉🏾 Stop 2 — Steilacoom High School in Steilacoom
👉🏾 Stop 3 — Curtis Senior High School in University Place

Whether students are exploring college, apprenticeships, military service, workforce training, or the trades, they deserve access to the support and opportunities that help them succeed.

Excited to continue these conversations with students, families, and educators in Steilacoom. 🩷

I had a great conversation with students at Pacific Lutheran University about what public service really looks like and how policy decisions shape access to higher education. ✨

We talked about my bill, SB 5828, and the importance of making sure financial aid works for students and not against them. At the end of the day, this is about whether students can stay in school, complete their degrees, and build the future they’re working toward.

I always appreciate hearing directly from students — your experiences, your questions, and your advocacy matter in this work.

Grateful for the chance to spend time on campus and keep these conversations going. 🫶🏾

Honored to join the reveal of Washington’s first-ever Comprehensive Climate Action Plan on Earth Day. 🌎

This plan is a major step forward — an economy-wide roadmap to meet our state’s greenhouse gas reduction goals, built in partnership with communities, Tribes, local governments, workers, and experts across Washington.

Grateful for the leadership from the Washington State Department of Commerce, the Washington Department of Ecology, and the many partners who came together to make this possible. This is what it looks like when collaboration drives real, statewide action. 💚

Midday lunch with Maxine, my executive legislative assistant, after my guest speaking visit at Pacific Lutheran University. 🎓💜

We may both be proud University of Puget Sound grads — and yes, the Logger/Lute rivalry is real — but so is our shared commitment to higher education and student success.

These visits matter. Hearing directly from students and being on campus helps shape the work we do in Olympia — from protecting financial aid to strengthening pathways through college and into the workforce. That connection between campuses and policy is what keeps this work grounded in real experiences.

Honored to serve as keynote speaker and participate in a fireside chat with Treehouse CEO Dawn Rains today in Tacoma. 💜

We’re talking about my journey through foster care, the people who helped shape my path, and why creating real opportunity for young people remains at the center of my work in Olympia.

I’m grateful for organizations like Treehouse that show up every day for youth and caregivers — helping remove barriers, expand support, and remind young people that their future is full of possibility.

Grateful to join the groundbreaking for the 88th and Pine filtration facility — an important step forward in addressing PFAS contamination and protecting our community’s drinking water. 💧🏗️

Clean, safe water is a basic need, and investments like this are critical to public health and long-term infrastructure. I’m glad to support this work and help move solutions forward for our community. 🫶🏾
