UPDATE for Tabernacle School Dismissals

As per the guidance from the State Police, we have been advised to move forward with the following procedures for today’s dismissal:

The shelter in place at OMS will be lifted at 2:30 for dismissal purposes.

The shelter in place at TES will be lifted at 3:15 for dismissal purposes.

Bus drop off times might be slightly delayed today due to our modified procedures.

Parent pickup will proceed as per usual in both schools. However, due to precautionary measures, please be advised that it may be a slower process.

All after school activities for today have been cancelled.

The State Police will be on site throughout the dismissal process today.

🚨 Tabernacle OEM Update 🚨

There is currently an incident within Tabernacle that is being investigated by the New Jersey State Police.

As a precaution, local schools have been placed in a “shelter in place.” This is NOT the same as a lockdown. A shelter in place allows normal school operations to continue while limiting movement in and out of the buildings.

You may notice an increased presence of State Troopers in the area, including personnel assigned to school locations. This is a standard protective measure to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community.

This remains an active police matter. As additional verified information becomes available, this office will provide updates to the public.

Please avoid the area if possible and allow emergency personnel to operate without interference.

🚒🚓🚑🔥 A controlled burn is currently being conducted in the South Park section of town and will continue until dark. Residents may see smoke in the area—this is expected and there is no emergency.

A Tornado Watch is in effect for Tabernacle Township until 7:00 PM.

This means weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms and possible tornadoes. Residents are encouraged to stay alert, closely monitor weather updates, and be prepared to seek shelter immediately if conditions worsen or a warning is issued.

Now is the time to review your emergency plan, charge your phones, and identify the safest place in your home or building — preferably a basement or small interior room on the lowest floor away from windows.

Please also stay away from any downed power lines and report them immediately to 911 and your utility provider. Assume all downed wires are live and dangerous.

Tabernacle Township Office of Emergency Management is monitoring conditions and will provide updates as needed.

WHO SEES WHAT?
My job is not to scare the bejesus out of you, but to INFORM and EDUCATE with facts...and give you my opinion using said facts. Let's go over the probability of severe weather across the region, because in today's setup, not every location is equal!

1. I don't think there's much of a concern along the coast...or in the green shaded area writ-large. Could you get some gusty rain? Sure. But oceanic influence helps stabilize the atmosphere so you've got the LOWEST probability of severe weather today.

2. Philly to Hammonton down into Vineland and Millville...this is where I've got an "Elevated" risk. Still not the worst, but some gusts 50mph+ possible with the heaviest downpours.

3. Woolwich Twp, Mantua, Mullica Hill, down into most of Salem and WESTERN Cumberland...If there's severe weather that develops today in our area, this is where the greatest potential is. Straight line winds and IF a tornado forms to the west and holds together, it would be getting into this area.

4. Highest probability is where the RED shading is...DC and Baltimore. Greatest wind threat AND could see multiple tornaodes later if everything holds together.
