In March, the County and City opened a renovated property on Lincoln Avenue containing four furnished apartments where families can stay free while lead-abatement work is performed in their homes. Abatement can require families to leave for roughly two to six weeks.

The County reported that recent lead efforts have involved approximately $13 million in federal grants plus more than $12 million in county funding.

That's not merely a social-media fact.

Because it raises the exact question we should be helping families answer:

"If my home needs lead remediation, where am I supposed to go while the work is happening?"

LeadSafe CNY Coalition can help families learn about available resources, understand their options, and navigate the systems and services that may be available to them.

Lead poisoning isn't yesterday's problem.

In 2024, 9.3% of Syracuse children tested had blood lead levels of 5 µg/dL or higher. That's nearly twice the countywide percentage.

💡 What does µg/dL mean?
It stands for micrograms of lead per deciliter of blood, the standard measurement used when reporting blood lead levels.

CDC's current blood lead reference value for children is 3.5 µg/dL, and no safe blood lead level in children has been identified.

Behind every number is a child, a family, and a home.

💚 Prevention starts before exposure.

🍎 Back to School means Back to Safety! 📚✏️

As our kids head back to the classroom, let’s make healthy homes part of the routine too. Simple habits, good information, and knowing what to look for can help protect children from lead exposure. 💚

Healthy homes. Healthy kids. Strong starts.
