From Emily: Having been a co-mentor the semester prior, I was a little nervous to mentor on my own for the first time. The most rewarding part of mentoring Deven was seeing her learn and grow during her probationary phase and become an active member of SUA. My all time favorite moment with Deven was working a shift with her for the first time and seeing her apply everything we worked on for the previous 6 weeks!
From Deven: Joining SUA was way out of my comfort zone. I was intimidated at first, but when I met Emily, I instantly knew I was with the right people. Emily created a fun learning environment where I felt comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. She quickly went from my mentor to my friend, and I could not be prouder that she is now a Field Supervisor. From my training with her, I can say with confidence that our organization is extremely lucky to have her as a leader. I am forever grateful for Emily’s guidance and our CTB dates.
From Isabelle: I joined SUA in the spring of 2024, and stepping into the mentor role has easily been one of the most meaningful experiences I have had in this organization. Being able to support Jocelyn alongside my other mentees has been incredible, especially watching her build confidence, find her rhythm on shift, and truly excel in the agency. Mentorship doesn’t stop once the probationary phase ends; it creates lasting support, and through it all, Jocelyn has truly become one of my best friends. Seeing her work hard, find her place, and thrive here is the absolute best part of being a mentor.
