🎨📚 5th Grade Spotlight: Art + ELA Collaboration! 📚🎨

Our 5th grade scholars combined creativity and literacy this month as part of their May Reading Project!

Students were challenged to design their very own T-shirt inspired by a book they read during May. Each T-shirt became a unique advertisement for reading, encouraging others to pick up a great book!

On their designs, scholars included:
👕 The title of their book
✍️ The author’s name
💡 The theme of the story
🎨 Creative artwork to inspire future readers

We are so proud of the effort, creativity, and thought our scholars put into their designs. These projects not only showcased their understanding of literature, but also their ability to express ideas through art.

✨ Celebrating Excellence at Southside ✨

We are incredibly proud to recognize Rachael Moore, At Risk Teacher, and Leroy McClain, 8th Grade Math Teacher, as recipients of the Teacher Awards at Southside!

Mrs. Moore’s compassion, dedication, and unwavering belief in her students make a lasting difference every single day. She meets students where they are, advocates fiercely for their success, and creates a safe space where they feel seen, supported, and capable of more than they imagined.

Mr. McClain’s passion for teaching and commitment to student achievement shine through in his classroom. He challenges students to think critically, builds confidence in math, and consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every learner has the tools they need to succeed.

Both of you embody what it truly means to be educators who lead with heart, purpose, and excellence. Southside is stronger because of you, and our students are better because they get to learn from you.
