🚫🔥 New York State Burn Ban Begins Today 🔥🚫

Beginning today, the annual burn ban is in effect across New York State from March 16 through May 14.

During this time, open burning of brush and debris is prohibited to help reduce the risk of wildfires. Spring conditions—dry grass, leaves, and windy weather—can allow fires to spread quickly.

✅ Allowed:
• Small campfires less than 3 feet in height and 4 feet in length/width
• Cooking fires using charcoal or untreated wood

❌ Not Allowed:
• Burning brush, leaves, or yard debris
• Large open fires

This seasonal ban helps protect our community, homes, and emergency responders.

If you see an unattended or out-of-control fire, please report it immediately by calling 911.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe.

⏰ Spring Forward This Weekend!

Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend. When you set your clocks ahead one hour, take a few minutes to check your home’s smoke alarms.

🔋 Replace the batteries if needed
🚨 Test each smoke detector to make sure it’s working
🏠 Ensure alarms are installed on every level of your home

Working smoke alarms save lives by providing early warning during a fire.

Take a moment during the time change to protect your home and your family.

Last night, our department assisted the Hinsdale Fire Department at a fume/odor investigation at Northern Lights Plaza.

Car 2 and Truck 2 responded. Car 2 assisted with incident command, while the Truck 2 crew supported ventilation operations and secured HVAC units on the roof to help mitigate dangerous levels of carbon monoxide inside an occupied business.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies, the building was safely evacuated and the hazard was controlled without injury.

We’re proud to work alongside our mutual aid partners and appreciate the strong teamwork on scene.

With winter weather expected to continue across Upstate New York, we want to remind residents of the importance of keeping fire hydrants clear and accessible.

Snowbanks, ice, and plowed snow can block hydrants and delay firefighters during an emergency. Seconds count, and clear access can make a critical difference when lives and property are at risk.

✔️ Please take a moment to:

Clear snow and ice around nearby hydrants

Maintain at least 3 feet of clearance on all sides

Ensure hydrants are visible from the street

Thank you for helping us help you stay safe this winter! 🚒
