A properly fitted helmet can greatly reduce the risk of serious head injuries in a crash or accident. Whether riding around the neighborhood or working on a construction project, helmets should always be part of the strategy.

Free fireworks safety buckets available at Heritage Days! 🪣🎆

Thanks to the generosity of TNT Fireworks, Syracuse Fire has received 150 five-gallon buckets to help families celebrate this fireworks season safely.

Stop by our first-aid trailer during Heritage Days to pick up a free bucket while supplies last (to spread the love, only one bucket per family, please). These buckets are perfect for safely soaking used fireworks, sparklers, and duds before disposal.

Using a fireworks disposal bucket is simple:
💧 Fill the bucket with water before your celebration
🎇 Place used fireworks, sparklers, and duds in the water
🌙 Let them soak overnight
🗑️ Dispose of the wet fireworks in your regular trash

Saving lives starts with action! What YOU can do:

✅ Learn CPR. Create an emergency action plan for your household by helping all family members know how to perform chest compressions.

✅ Know where the nearest AED is and take note of AEDs in schools, gyms, and workplaces.

Remember: Quick actions matter during emergencies. If you witness a sudden collapse, dial 911, start CPR, and use an AED, if available. Your swift response can mean everything.
