AMR of Central New York

AMR of Central New York Serving the Syracuse community with professional emergency and non-emergency medical transportation. AMR is the lifeline to the Central New York Community.

Proudly supporting patients, hospitals, and first responders with compassionate care, clinical excellence, and 24/7 service. 🚑 Serving for nearly 60 years, AMR is an integral part of the region’s healthcare delivery system, providing the area’s only CAAS Accredited Ambulance service. Our crews respond to more than 60,000 calls each year, treating patients in Onondaga, Cayuga, Herkimer, Montgomery, and Schoharie Counties, and the Town of Sullivan in Madison County. AMR is the primary provider of ambulance services for various communities throughout our six-county service area. We work collaboratively with police, fire, 911 centers, other ambulance agencies, and healthcare organizations to provide a true integrated approach to the emergency medical needs of our region. In addition to ambulance transportation services, AMR of Syracuse is the
area’s largest American Heart Association training center. Additional education opportunities are available for New York State EMT, New York State Department of Health CME recertification program, and other continuing education training courses.

As another New York State Fair comes to a close, our AMR crews are trading fair food and long shifts for a well-earned celebration!

As our largest event all year, the hours all blend together and we just remember all the fun, friends, and fried foods 😋

This Fair’s end is bittersweet as we celebrate one of our own on a very well deserved retirement! 🎊

Dave Delucia

Since May 23, 1973, the people who live, work, and visit in the State of New York have, mostly unknowingly, had the privilege of being safeguarded and cared for by Dave Delucia. Since his early days in New York City, where he provided concierge and getaway driver services to a wide array of gangsters, to caring for the citizens of Syracuse, Cayuga County, Woodgate, and their surrounding areas since 1988, Paramedic Delucia’s career has been nothing short of exemplary.

Dave was honored by the Red Cross as a real hero for his selflessness during the 1993 search for Sara Ann Wood. He bought and cooked food for all who worked to bring resolution to a tragedy.

As an Eastern Paramedic, Dave was a key member of the Woodstock 94 deployment, where we know stuff happened, but the details shall remain locked away in a few people’s memories.

He has been a fierce competitor in the Upstate Toxicology Conference games and can name every ECG phenomenon from Ashman’s to Yamaguchi. The lasting imprints of his interdisciplinary relationships, particularly with medical examiners, will never smear.

While Dave’s generosity and support of the Jamaican Fire Brigade temporarily had him banned from the island by the Minister of Health, he continued to fund clinicians’ education and send equipment and supplies to keep the organization running through his connections with the Canadian Air Force. He eventually resumed in-person support in Jamaica and expanded his philanthropy to the EMS system in Turks and Caicos, work that continues today, in case anyone wants to make a donation.

When you miss Dave, you can visit him at Clark’s Ale House on St. Patrick’s Day, where he cooks for the bartenders because they’re too busy to eat. There’s so much more we can say, but some of us are too young to retire just yet.

Never one to be sheepish, Dave has shared wisdom and stories with generations of EMS clinicians, including, “you call, we haul.” Tonight, he concludes a career spanning more than 50 years. Thank you, Dave. The honor has been ours.

Happy Friday!

Today our friends at SPD paid a visit to our station with the new academy class. As fellow first responders we all work together towards one common goal on scenes, safety.

This class, taught by one of our own paramedics consisted of safe stretcher handling, equipment familiarization, and collaborative efforts in securing patients in the ambulance, along with other situations where both departments work together!

Come back anytime friends ☺️ can’t wait to see you out in the streets in a few short weeks 🚑 🚔

Did you know that emergencies can happen anywhere? 🚨

We do!

Sometimes when access can be limited and the physical ambulance can’t be brought to a patient we still bring care to patient side in a miniature way.

This weekend with several large scale events going on in the Syracuse area, our specialized providers on the bike team were out and about providing care and rendering aid where an ambulance couldn’t.

Our friends at Syracuse Police Department had the same idea!

Enjoy some of those photos 🌭

At the beginning of this month a call to action was requested by our friends in the Big Apple 🍎 NYC as there was an anticipated need from various events. This started with the holiday weekend and several sporting events including the FIFA World Cup.

Without hesitation these amazing EMTs left their homes for over a week to help in a whole new territory!

Join us in the extended thanks for their dedication ❤️

As first responders, we have deep respect for the courage, commitment and selflessness it takes to answer the call in service to others.

This Memorial Day, we remember and honor the military heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

From all of us at AMR, we remember. 🇺🇸
