SU DPS was out on the Quad this past week connecting with students, sharing resources, and yes — Chief Bunker got to pie someone. 🍰 We loved every minute of it.

🇺🇸🕯️ On the 25th anniversary of September 11th, DPS honored the memory of those we lost by participating in two memorial stairclimbs.

The first was hosted by Syracuse University Ambulance in partnership with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The second was organized by SU students — a powerful reminder that the next generation carries this memory forward too.

Together, participants climbed the equivalent of 110 stories — one for every floor of the Twin Towers — in tribute to all those lost that day.

Twenty-five years later, we will never forget. 🧡

🕯️ "Every time it comes around, it feels like yesterday."

Twenty-five years ago, Lt. Alvarez was a fifth grader in New Jersey — close enough to see the smoke rising over the Hudson from his classroom window.

That day set Lt. Alvarez on a path that would eventually lead him to SU DPS. Today, on the 25th anniversary, we're proud to share his story.

Today, we remember those we lost on September 11th, 2001.

Twenty-five years ago, our nation lost 2,977 lives — a little over 400 of them first responders who ran toward danger to save others. We will never forget the courage and sacrifice they showed that day.

Here at DPS, we're taking a moment to be thankful for those who still risk their lives every day to keep our city safe. We carry the example of those we've lost with us, every step of the way.
