Becoming warm and humid this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. A slow-moving front arrives to far northwest Indiana near sunrise Wednesday bringing a chance for showers and thunderstorms. This chance of wet weather spreads southeast through the day. An isolated severe storm is possible along and south of US 24, but widespread severe storms are NOT expected.

Our office has issued 305 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings this year! ⛈️ This is a new record (previous: 289 in 1998) and first time we've ever gone over 300 in a single year! March, April, and August have all had a record amount of severe thunderstorm warnings for the month too! Records at our office for the SV.W product date back to 1986.

This has been the hottest start to September on record for Fort Wayne and South Bend. The first 4 full days of the month have had an average temperature in the low 80s. We will see a break in heat and humidity, but well above normal temperatures are expected to continue through much of the month.
