Prayer for Fathers on Father’s Day

Heavenly Father, you entrusted your Son Jesus, the child of Mary, to the care of Joseph, his foster father. Bless all fathers and grandfathers as they care for their families. Give them strength and wisdom, tenderness and patience, give them ability to love in a way that reflects your love. Support them in the work they have to do, protecting those who look to them, as we look to you for love and salvation. Help us to love them in a way that would bring honor to You and them. Bless and heal all those wounded by the imperfections of their fathers and grant an eternal rest to our fathers you have called from this life to yourself, through Jesus Christ Lord.

A prayer honoring freedom, history, and progress this Juneteenth:

God of all peoples and nations, on this day of freedom, we celebrate with all people of goodwill that we might walk arm in arm towards justice for all.

Breathe into us your eternal breath, that we may never tire of ensuring a flourishing life for all people, but most especially, those brothers and sisters whose growth has been stifled by the trauma of being enslaved.

O God, we know and have seen your goodness, and because of it, we cling to the hope that unity and liberation for all are within our grasp.

Be with us on our journey to be who we say we are, as we cultivate peace through justice by the intentional living of interculturality, anti-racism, and inclusion.

Continue to show us your goodness, that we may have the strength to advance your kingdom with humility and grace.

Amen.

We are having information sessions on Thursday, June 25th at 2:00 p.m. over tea and Monday, June 29th at 10:00 a.m. over brunch.
