We come together to remember the lives lost 25 years ago today, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call on September 11, 2001.

County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, II joined first responders and the community for a special service this morning in the City of Syracuse.

Those gathered observed 17 minutes of silence – the time between the first and second towers being struck.

25 years later, we remember and honor. We must never forget.

The Onondaga County Department of Transportation will conduct a replacement of the bridge on Troop K Road over Tributary to Limestone Creek in the Town of Manlius. The project is located on Troop K Road between NYS Route 173 and Post Road.

County forces will be setting up a work zone beginning September 8, 2026. An offsite detour route will be utilized. Motorists are asked to follow the marked detour during the closure.

As with any highway project, the Onondaga County Department of Transportation encourages motorists to plan ahead for potential delays and to consider alternate routes, if possible. We respectfully ask the traveling public to please reduce speeds in work zones, use caution, and be mindful of construction workers and equipment.

The Onondaga County Neighborhood Initiative program has just opened up a new $2 million Revolving Loan Fund to help Bayberry homeowners in the Town of .

They can get up to $25,000 for exterior upgrades through a mix of 70% low interest loan (1% for up to 7 years) and 30% grant - and when the loan is repaid, the grant is fully forgiven. That means a homeowner borrowing the full amount would only repay $17,500. Even better: no income restrictions.

Home HeadQuarters will administer the program, building on their success managing earlier rounds. Since he created it, County Executive McMahon’s Initiative has loaned $7.6m to assist with exterior improvements to nearly 700 homes throughout Onondaga County.

County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, II enjoyed watching the Bees Bands deliver a dynamic, high energy performance at the Baldwinsville Central School District 2026–2027 school year kickoff this week.

The district writing on social media: “County Executive McMahon shared his excitement about the incredible job opportunities available right here in our community for our students as they look toward their futures. He also took a moment to recognize and praise our amazing staff for the hard work they do every day to prepare our students to thrive and succeed in the future.”
