IS IT HOT OUTSIDE TODAY? Not anymore for the kids at Boulder Trail. Firefighters got to show the trucks, teach fire safety and cool down the kids on this hot South Georgia day! The kids may or may not have taught our guys how to play football. Everyone had a blast.

Sylvester Fire Department would like to take a moment and congratulate Captain Barrington Bryan, Lieutenant Jesse Chestnutt and Lieutenant Waylon Anderson on their recent promotions. Each member participated in a points-based promotions process that included points for years of service, points for education, written exam score, practical exam score as well as a scored interview. We are proud of our staff and their continued efforts keeping this community and its citizens safe.

Sylvester Fire Department had the opportunity to visit Backyard Buddies Daycare to teach fire safety to the kids.
The children learned about having a designated family meeting place outside the home, how to safely exit during a fire emergency, and how firefighters look as well as sound like in full turnout gear. The children got an up-close look inside a fire apparatus and learned about various tools and equipment we use to protect our citizens. The Sylvester Fire Department would like to extend a big thank you to Backyard Buddies Daycare for the invitation.

Today, Our own Firefighter Larry Walker was honored with a lunch and plaque at the Sylvester Fire Department. Ladies from Mighty Oaks apartments presented Larry with a plaque of appreciation for his service to his community. Larry strives to assist anyone in need, this ranges from making sure a delivery at his apartment ends up at the right location. Providing service to the citizens of Sylvester and striving to help young athletes in their sports career. Larry is a kind and caring young man with a very bright future ahead of him. We are extremely proud to call Larry one of our own. Thank you to Mighty Oaks for recognizing Firefighter Larry Walker and his impact on his community.
