Sep. 9 - Join us for the 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 at 6pm at the Sylvania Senior Center. The Town Hall gives community members an opportunity to hear about our district finances and ask questions directly to our Superintendent, Treasurer, and Board members.
Sep. 11 - Join us for the first 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 & 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 session at 9:30am at the Sylvania Senior Center. These Friday morning sessions offer a more informal setting to hear about district finances and ask questions directly to our Superintendent and Treasurer.

Dear Sylvania Schools Community,

At approximately 6:00 a.m. this morning, Sylvania Schools received information that a power outage at a local data center had disrupted several of our critical communication systems. This outage impacted our district internet, phone systems, and Raptor visitor management system, which is used at our school entrances to help ensure the safety and security of our students and staff.

Because these systems are an important part of our ability to communicate and maintain secure school buildings, I made the decision to close schools for today. While some area school districts may have been able to continue operating because their outage primarily affected internet access, Sylvania Schools was facing a broader communications and security issue.

We recognize that a school closure creates challenges for our families, and we do not make the decision to close schools lightly. However, when we are unable to rely on critical communication and visitor management systems, we believe the responsible decision is to put the safety and security of our students and staff first.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this unexpected situation. The safety and security of our Sylvania Schools community will always be our first priority.

CLOSED TODAY - We are experiencing a district-wide phone and internet outage. We are not able to send or receive communication from our buildings, and our Raptor system is also down. Sylvania Schools will be CLOSED today, Friday, September 4, 2026.

Great job, Bobby, Matt, Makennah, and Avery! They represented the Firefighter/EMT Career Tech program today at Rotary Club of Sylvania. Mr. Langendonk, their teacher and a former firefighter, talked about the program. Each student shared their personal reasons for applying, and Auxiliary Fire Chief Bennett discussed the Sylvania Fire-EMS partnership with the district and the employment opportunity for the students. This is a great win-win-win for our fire department, our students, and our community.

When the lesson is about 𝗯𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆, it's a hands-on experience. Across the district, our K-3 students are learning about bus safety as Miss Cheryl and Miss Julie review the rules for being in and around the bus. Look at those hands in the air. This group demonstrated how quickly they can signal to other students on a bus to be quiet at a railroad crossing. Thank you to our teachers for assisting as the students practiced using the emergency exit. This fall, all K-12 bus riders will practice evacuation drills with their bus driver.
