Screven County Fire Department firefighters and equipment have been deployed to assist with the ongoing wildfires in Brantley County.

Our firefighters are joining efforts alongside multiple agencies to help contain these fast moving and dangerous fires. This deployment reflects the strong mutual aid partnerships that exist across our state and the commitment to support neighboring communities in times of need.

While this crew is away, SCFD remains fully staffed and prepared to respond to emergencies here at home.

We ask that you keep all personnel working these fires in your thoughts as they continue operations in challenging conditions.

Notice: Emergency Burn Ban is in Effect in Screven County Effective Immediately

Please be advised that the Georgia Forestry Commission has instituted an emergency burn ban in multiple counties, including Screven County. The outdoor burning of any material is prohibited until May 23, 2026, and the ban may be extended in the discretion of the Georgia Forestry Commission. Any person violating the burn ban shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. Law enforcement within Screven County will be enforcing the ban.

ATLANTA – Governor Brian P. Kemp today announced that Preciball USA plans to invest $17.6 million in a new production facility in Screven County, creating 65 new jobs over the next several years.

A Subcontractor for Norfolk Southern will be doing work in the area of 6044 Old Ogeechee Rd beginning on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

No traffic will be able to cross the tracks during this time and this will be a multiple day closure until the work is complete.
