Jackson County to Host Community Open Houses
as Part of Housing Plan Engagement Process
Jackson County, NC., June 15, 2026 - The Jackson County Planning Department is inviting all residents to attend one of two Community Housing Open Houses on Tuesday, July 14, or Wednesday, July 15. Both sessions will run from 6-8 p.m. and will feature the same format and content, allowing residents to attend the session that best fits their schedule.
The Open Houses will have an open, interactive format, with different stations for residents to provide input on housing challenges and preferences, access information about the Comprehensive Affordable Housing Strategy and learn more about resources across the community. There will be no formal presentation from County staff or the consultants, but the open house will allow attendees to ask questions and contribute ideas to help shape the future of housing in Jackson County.
โHaving input directly from our residents and hear their concerns will allow us to best address the affordable housing issue here in Jackson County,โ said Michael Poston, Director, Jackson County Planning Department. โAs county leaders, our goal is to pragmatically address quality-of-life issues for our residents and businesses - housing is one of those top items on the list, and folks who call Jackson County home can help us with a solution.โ
Representatives from the partner consulting firm, TPMA, will be on-site to facilitate interactive stations and answer questions about the housing study and strategic plan. While RSVPs are not required, attendees are encouraged to RSVP via the link below to help organizers plan accordingly. Light refreshments will be provided.
