📚 Join us for the next installment of the First Bank of Alabama Adult Lecture Series, "History Comes Alive" at B. B. Comer Memorial Library!
On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, we welcome Dolores Hydock for her presentation, "Intrepid Birdmen: The Pilots of WWI".
The thrilling, sometimes harrowing, true story of the crazy courage of the earliest pilots who took combat to the skies in the Great War. These "intrepid birdmen of the sky" transformed aerial technology and had a hand in changing the course of world history. The story journeys through the long odds these pilots faced in their flimsy paper kites, and ends with a salute to the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who rode the wings of new technology into the 20th century.
🕒 Event Details: Doors Open: 11:00 AM (Bring your lunch early! The library provides bottled water and the Hickory Street Café provides a prepackaged dessert).
Program Starts: 12:00 PM in the Harry I. Brown Auditorium (HIB).
