Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI) recently hosted a special Father-Child Dance, creating meaningful moments of connection, joy, and family bonding. πŸ’™

Families enjoyed an evening of music, dancing, dinner, and memorable activities. Fathers and their children decorated cupcakes, visited a Build-A-Buddy station to create special keepsakes, and shared quality time together.

DPSCS is proud to partner with Fathers Forward in support of events that strengthen family relationships. Participation in the dance was earned through commitment and growth, as incarcerated individuals at the ECI Annex were required to complete cognitive programming focused on fatherhood and family responsibility while maintaining positive behavior and active engagement in programming.

Events like these remind us of the power of family connection and the impact meaningful moments can have on rehabilitation, healing, and hope for the future.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this special experience possible and to the families who made the night one to remember. πŸ’™

DPSCS Secretary Carolyn J. Scruggs was honored to join leaders, advocates, and community partners at the University of Maryland, Baltimore's EMBRACE Initiative to engage in meaningful conversations focused on strengthening reentry efforts and expanding opportunities for returning citizens.

By bringing together partners across agencies and organizations, events like these help strengthen collaboration, address barriers to successful reentry, and create pathways of support for individuals as they transition back into their communities.

DPSCS remains committed to working alongside community partners to build a more connected, equitable, and supportive reentry network for all Marylanders. 🀝
