Thank you Patrick for making water conservation look so good!!

We love to see our rain barrels in action! Thanks to the DeKalb County Forest Preserve District for sharing their set-up at the Russell Woods Forest Preserve Natural Resource Education Center, which features a rain chain to guide water off the roof and into the rain barrel, which empties into the pond to keep it full and create the perfect breeding spot for frogs and toads. 🐸💧

Pop Up Outreach tomorrow! Stop by Sycamore Forest Preserve on May 28th between 10am and 1:30pm to explore with us! Sycamore Park District and NIU staff will also join us to show you some interesting nature, like these sunfish beds!

This time of year is great for a lunch break in one of the woodland forest preserves. Spring ephemeral plants catch the sun before trees leaf out. Although small these wildflowers are beautiful and often indicate your standing in a remnant woodland. Enjoy!

On August 29th at Sycamore Forest Preserve, stop by anytime between 10am and 1:30pm for information on bee friendly landscaping. Local NRCS and SWCD staff will also be there to spread the word about planting for pollinators!
