🚔 Today, Sycamore Police Department welcomed Ofc. Gama back to Sycamore! Ofc. Gama successfully completed 14 weeks of training to become a certified police officer at the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center. Congratulations, Ofc. Gama!

🚔 We also held the swearing in of your newest police officer, Jake Williams. Ofc. Williams reports to training at the end of the week. Please join us in welcoming Ofc. Williams and wish him luck at the academy!

Join us tomorrow, August 24th between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Texas Roadhouse to support Special Olympics Illinois!

We are teaming up with servers collecting tips for Special Olympics of Illinois. Texas Roadhouse is donating 10% of all food sales to Special Olympics of Illinois. We will have LETR merchandise available for sale while supplies last!

So come hungry and show up to support a great cause!

Saturday, August 22nd City Lots 1 & 2 and metered parking in the 300 blk of W. Elm Street will be closed for the Ribs, Rhythm, and Brew Fest. City Lots will be open on Sunday.

🍂 Fall is all about education — and getting ready for what’s coming in 2027! 🚲🛴

The Sycamore Police Department will be focusing on education and awareness of the new Illinois e-bike and e-scooter laws throughout the fall. Our goal is to help riders understand the current rules, ride safely, and share the road.

📅 Important change coming January 1, 2027: New Illinois requirements will take effect for e-bikes and e-scooters.

Between now and January, officers will be focused on educating riders, answering questions, and addressing violations when necessary — giving everyone an opportunity to understand the law.

🚲 Know the law. Ride safely. Share the road.

The Sycamore Police Department is pleased to announce that Deputy Chief Joseph Meeks and Sergeant Justin Kness have been honored by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police by being designated as Certified Eligible Police Chiefs through the Association’s Police Chief Certification Program. This designation signifies that both Sycamore PD leadership team members have met the highest standards of competency and conduct for their profession.

Sycamore Police Department is proud to join the statewide Labor Day traffic safety effort focused on impaired, distracted and unsafe driving. The campaign begins August 14th through September 8th. Drive aware, not impaired.

The City's tornado siren service company is servicing a siren near Bethany Rd. and Reston Blvd. The siren will be activated as part of the service. This is only a test, and service should be completed by 3 pm.
