Carnegie Free Library of Swissvale opened in 1918 & is a member of the Allegheny County Library Assoc Want something from another library?

Swissvale Library opened for business on February 4th, 1918 and is one of 19 libraries that Andrew Carnegie built in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. We have been serving the public for almost 100 years and we are preparing for many more years of service to come. Use your county-wide library card to borrow any of the library's materials. Call us, or use your online account to have it sent here for convenient pick-up. The library is equipped with seven public computers, free WiFi, a color copier, printing, faxing, and exterior book return, and convenient street parking on Monongahela and McClure Avenues. The library is a department of the Woodland Hills School District.

Join us this Friday Sept 18 for Open Mic Night at Swissvale Library! Singers, musicians, poets, puppeteers, magicians, & audience members of ANY age are welcome to showcase their art and performances for others - this is a free, family-friendly event that happens every 3rd Friday of the month, 6-8:30PM.

If you’re interested in performing, call 412-731-2300 or email [email protected]. There will also be signups at the door, but slots are limited. Or come as part of the audience!

Visit the library on the second Saturday of each month for a fun activity! This month, we'll create owl crafts to celebrate the beginning of fall. Owl bet you’ll have a hoot! Saturday September 12, 11AM-12PM. For school age kids.

The Adult Crafting Circle is meeting at a new time, starting this Thursday September 10. We'll be meeting every 2nd and 4th Thursday from here on out. So join us for a relaxing evening of crafting! Feel free to bring supplies to work on your own creative project or use materials provided. Adults only. 6-7PM.

Visit the library for a morning storytime, starting this Wednesday September 9, from 10:30-11AM. We'll read books, sing songs, and do fun activities. We'll have a blast together! Ages birth to 5yo. 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month.

She just started at Swissvale Library but has been working with kids for over 15 years in libraries, schools, museums, theaters, and other places. She likes everything about working in a library, but her favorite parts are getting to know everyone who comes in and doing fun programs!📖

Exciting news at Swissvale Library! Phase 1 wrapped up with a brightened exterior, safe front steps, and a new home for our war memorials.

But our work is not done and we need your help for Phase 2: adding an elevator, accessible restrooms, and a new HVAC system!

Per Scholas will be at Swissvale Library this Tuesday August 18. Come by anytime between 10AM and 1PM to learn about Per Scholas, a national non-profit offering 100% tuition-free technical training & job placement support.

Courses offered at Per Scholas Pittsburgh range from 12-18 weeks and include the following in both on-campus and virtual formats: AI-Enabled IT Support; Cybersecurity; and, AI Native Software Engineering.
