🚧 WEEKEND PARKWAY EAST TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS 🚧

Please be advised of upcoming traffic restrictions on I-376 (Parkway East) this weekend:

📅 Friday, August 28 through Monday, August 31

➡️ Westbound I-376 will be reduced to one lane between the Churchill (Exit 79B) exit and the Edgewood (Exit 77) interchange beginning at 9:00 PM Friday through 5:00 AM Monday.

🚨 Eastbound I-376 – Edgewood Exit 77 Ramp Closure
The eastbound off-ramp to Edgewood/South Braddock Avenue will be closed from 9:00 PM Friday through 5:00 AM Sunday. A detour will be posted.

Detour:
• Take the ramp toward Swissvale
• Turn left onto Monongahela Avenue
• Follow Monongahela Avenue to South Braddock Avenue

⚠️ Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays and allow additional travel time. Please use caution in the work zone and follow all posted detour signs.

All work is weather dependent, and restrictions may be lifted early if work is completed ahead of schedule.

🚨 Community Reminder: Lock Your Vehicles 🚨

We have recently seen an increase in vehicle break-ins/thefts throughout our area.

Please help protect yourself by taking a few simple precautions:

🔒 Always lock your vehicle, even if it's parked in your driveway.
💼 Remove all valuables, ESPECIALLY wallets, purses, electronics, cash, and fi****ms.
🔑 Never leave your keys or key fobs inside your vehicle.
🛞 If possible, use a steering wheel lock as an added layer of protection.
🚗 Close all windows and ensure your vehicle is secure before leaving it unattended.

Many vehicle break-ins are crimes of opportunity. A few extra seconds to secure your vehicle can go a long way toward preventing theft.

If you notice suspicious activity or witness someone attempting to enter vehicles, please call 911 immediately.

The Swissvale-Braddock Hills Regional Police Department is proud to recognize Officer Maywood for her exceptional courage, professionalism, and decisive actions during a critical incident on July 5, 2026.

While assisting Eastern Regional Police during a barricaded suspect incident involving an individual believed to be armed with both a knife and a fi***rm, Officer Maywood was assigned to secure the perimeter of the residence. Approximately one and one-half hours into the standoff, Officer Maywood observed the suspect unexpectedly emerge from the alley behind the residence.

Without hesitation, Officer Maywood pursued the suspect on foot, engaged in a physical struggle, and successfully took him into custody, preventing his escape and helping bring a dangerous incident to a safe conclusion.

The Swissvale-Braddock Hills Regional Police Department proudly commends Officer Maywood for her outstanding service and extends its sincere appreciation for her commitment to the highest traditions of law enforcement. Her actions bring great credit upon herself, the Department, and the law enforcement profession.
