🚨 Grant Announcement 🚨
The Christianburg Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce that we have been awarded the CSX Railroad Pride in Service Grant. This funding will allow our department to purchase brand-new AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) to better serve and protect our community with updated, advanced lifesaving equipment.
These new AEDs will help improve emergency medical response and provide critical care when every second counts. We are extremely thankful to CSX Railroad for their support and commitment to helping volunteer fire departments continue serving their communities safely and effectively.
On behalf of our department and community, thank you to CSX Railroad for helping make this possible. Your generosity and partnership are greatly appreciated.
Together, we continue working to keep our community safer every day.

From all of us at Christianburg Volunteer Fire Department — have a safe Memorial Day weekend while cooking and grilling. A few quick tips to keep the celebration fire-free:

- Never leave cooking or the grill unattended. Assign a “grill watcher.”
- Keep kids and pets at least 3 feet away from the cooking area.
- Keep flammable items (towels, paper, loose clothing) away from burners and grills.
- For grease fires: TURN OFF the heat, cover the pan with a metal lid or use baking soda — do NOT pour water.
- Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and know how to use it.
- Check propane lines for leaks and keep grills well away from your house, deck railings, or overhangs.
- Clean grease buildup on grills and in pans to prevent flare-ups.
- Let charcoal cool completely and dispose of ashes in a metal container.
- Test smoke alarms and have an escape plan ready.

If a fire starts and you can’t control it safely, get out, stay out, and call 911. Enjoy the holiday and stay safe — Christianburg Volunteer Fire Department.
