Thank You, Sweet Springs!

Thank you to everyone who attended last night's Public Hearing for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Demolition Project.

We had a great turnout, thoughtful questions, and productive discussion. Your participation is an important part of the grant application process, and I appreciate everyone who took the time to come, listen, and share their thoughts.

I'd also like to thank the team from Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission for helping explain the project and answering questions.

Whether this grant is awarded or not, we're continuing to take steps that move Sweet Springs forward. Last night was another example of what can happen when a community comes together and gets involved.

Thank you for caring about the future of Sweet Springs.

Together, we're building on our history and investing in our future. 💙

🏘️ Help Shape the Future of Sweet Springs

One of the concerns I heard over and over again while out on the campaign trail was the number of vacant, unsafe, and deteriorating buildings throughout our community.

This Thursday, July 9 at 6:00 PM, we have an opportunity to take another positive step forward.

The City of Sweet Springs will hold a Public Hearing for our proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Demolition Grant, which could help remove blighted residential and commercial structures that have become eyesores and safety concerns.

This meeting isn't just about a grant.

It's about your voice.

State officials want to know that our community supports projects like this, and the more residents who attend, the stronger our application becomes.

We've already seen what can happen when our community comes together:
🌸 Beautiful new downtown flowers and painted planters
🏛️ New downtown banners
🏚️ Historic buildings being restored
🎆 The return of our community fireworks display
❤️ A renewed sense of pride in Sweet Springs

Now let's keep that momentum going.

Something special is happening in Sweet Springs. ❤️💙

Over the last few months, we've seen something that can't be measured with a budget or a spreadsheet...

Momentum.

🌺 The ladies from the Lutheran Church gave our downtown planters a fresh coat of paint.

🌼 Our FFA students planted beautiful flowers that now brighten Brick Street.

🏛️ Twelve local businesses stepped up to sponsor our new downtown banners, helping showcase the pride we have in our historic downtown.

🏚️ Long-vacant buildings are being brought back to life through private investment and renovation.

🎆 The Chamber of Commerce brought back a community fireworks stand and, for the first time in more than a decade, a community fireworks display at City Park.

🏊 Our city pool celebrated America's 250th Birthday with 25¢ swim days, giving families an affordable way to celebrate together.

None of these things happened because of one person or one organization.

They happened because people chose to work together.

As someone who grew up in Sweet Springs during the 70s and 80s, I remember when downtown was full of life. Seeing these improvements reminds me that while we can't go back in time, we can absolutely build a future that honors our past.

To the volunteers, churches, civic organizations, business owners, sponsors, city employees, elected officials, and residents who continue to invest their time, talents, and resources into our community...

Thank you.

Every flower planted, every building improved, every banner raised, every hour volunteered, and every event brought back helps move Sweet Springs forward.

We still have work to do, but for the first time in a long time, you can feel it.

Momentum is building.

Sweet Springs is moving forward... together.

And we're just getting started. ❤️💙

🎆🇺🇸 We're excited to see a hometown tradition return! 🇺🇸🎆

After decades without a community fireworks show, the skies over Sweet Springs will once again light up on Sunday July 5th, at 9:15 PM at the City Park (Big Ball Diamond).

As we celebrate America's 250th Birthday, we invite everyone to come out, enjoy the evening, and help welcome back a tradition that generations of Sweet Springs families can enjoy for years to come.

A huge thank you to the Sweet Springs MO Chamber of Commerce , donors, and volunteers who made this possible.

This year marks America’s 250th Birthday, and there couldn’t be a better time to bring back a tradition that has been missed by so many.

Sweet Springs is bringing back its community fireworks show, and while it may be small, it’s going to be mighty—just like our town. We know it won’t compare to some of the larger displays, but that’s not what this night is about.

This is about neighbors gathering together, children looking up in amazement, families making memories, and a community taking one more step toward bringing back the traditions that make Sweet Springs special.

⏰ 9:15 pm - July 5th
📍 Location: City Park - Big Ball Diamond

🚗 Parking: Vehicles will be parked around the outside of the ball field fence, up to three rows deep. Please follow the directions of our volunteers so we can safely accommodate everyone.

🪑 Seating: A designated lawn chair area will be available, along with two sets of small bleachers. Seating is first come, first served.

As the fireworks light up the sky, we hope they also remind us of what can happen when a community comes together. This year’s show is just the beginning. With your support, we hope to continue building this tradition for future generations to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, sponsored, and believed that Sweet Springs deserved to see fireworks in the sky once again.
