The storm that passed through on Friday, September 6, ignited several new fires. California Incident Management Team 13 assumed command of three of these fires. In addition to the Pyramid, Ore and Linton Creek, the IMT also has the Boulder, and Round Top fires, along with the “374 Fire” within the Willamette Complex North. In addition, resources remain identified and available to respond for initial attack fires when needed.

Suppression Objectives: The Boulder, Ore, Linton Creek, Pyramid, 374, and Roundtop fires are full suppression fires. Many different strategies are being used to protect values at risk, including infrastructure, communities, and Highway 126, the Middle Santiam Wilderness, HJ Andrews Experimental Forest, and private timberlands. Crews are building direct fire line where possible, and strategic indirect contingency line as needed. In addition, heavy equipment, fire retardant, and water dropping air support are being used.

Current Situation: Many fires are currently burning on the Willamette Complex. If more fires come under the command of Team 13, fires will be prioritized for values at risk to life and property.

Boulder Fire: 5 Miles West of McKenzie Bridge, acres, 0% contained, lightning caused. A Level 1 (Be Ready) evacuation notice is in effect for North of Highway 126 East from the east end of Drury Land to Old Clear Lake Cutoff Loop. View an Interactive Evacuation Status Map.

NEW CLOSURE: Beginning at noon on Monday Highway 242 will be closed to all traffic at the intersection with Highway 126 (mileposts 55 to 77). Crews will remain in the area to assist with evacuations. Highway 126 between mileposts 15 and 17 will be reduced to one lane with pilot cars guiding traffic. Do not divert onto forest roads to avoid closures, check https://tripcheck.com/ for updates.

Ore Fire: 7 miles Northeast of Blue River, 3,397 acres, 43% contained, human caused. Firefighters are continuing with cleaning up the 1509 Road to secure and clean up below the Ore Creek drainage. Material from activity fuels will be hauled away to improve and secure fire lines.

Linton Creek: 621 acres, 0% contained, lightning caused. Firefighters scouted access points and are gathering intelligence on areas to engage the fire. This is being managed under a full suppression strategy.

Pyramid Fire: East of Middle Santiam Wilderness, 1,312 Acres, 98% contained, lightning caused. Work will continue with masticating and chipping on contingency lines. Material created from this work will be hauled away.

Safety: Check Lane County and Deschutes County for evacuation orders within the Willamette Complex North.

Message: The Linton Creek fire started Friday, September 6. California Incident Management Team 13 assumed command at 3pm on Saturday September 7. Currently the fire is estimated at 600 acres and rapidly growing. There is zero percent containment, and cause was determined to be lightning.

Suppression Objectives: The Ore, Pyramid and Linton Creek Fires are full suppression fires. Many different strategies used to protect values at risk, including the Middle Santiam Wilderness, HJ Andrews Experimental Forest, and private timberlands are being implemented. Firefighters are building direct fire line where possible, and strategic indirect contingency line as needed. In addition, heavy equipment, fire retardant, and water dropping air support are being used.

Current Situation: The red flag warning expired Saturday evening and an onshore flow will return today bringing reduced temperatures over the next few days. Tuesday calls for a 60 percent chance of rain with more rain anticipated later in the week. Crews will continue working to secure, patrol, and mop up containment lines. Resources are available to provide initial attack response if additional fires are reported.

Ore Fire: 7 miles Northeast of Blue River, 3,379 acres, 42% contained, human caused. Firing operations took place last evening to clean-up the Ore creek drainage after extensive preparation. Firefighters will spend today improving the direct and indirect fire lines increasing the buffer along the 1509 road. Operations of chipping and masticating resume and material will be hauled away from the lines. Crews will continue burn operations utilizing UAS to strengthen and add depth to yesterday’s operations.

Pyramid Fire: East of Middle Santiam Wilderness, 1,312 Acres, 98% contained, lightning caused. With weather patterns predicted to be more favorable with lower temperatures and higher humidities, work will continue with masticating and chipping on contingency lines. Material created from this work will be hauled away.

Safety: With the start of the Linton Creek fire there is an evacuation order in place around the Three Sisters Wilderness. Please visit Lane County Sheriff’s Office for more information regarding the evacuation notice. Please remember to drive defensively and reduce speed when traveling. https://www.lanecountyor.gov/cms/one.aspx?pageId=20364078

Message: The red flag warning has been extended through 8pm tonight. Please check the National Weather Service for more information.

Suppression Objectives: The Ore Fire and the Pyramid Fire remain under a full suppression strategy to protect values at risk, including the Middle Santiam Wilderness, HJ Andrews Experimental Forest, and private timberlands. Firefighters are building direct fire line where possible, and strategic indirect contingency line as needed.

Current Situation: Lightning observed Friday evening as isolated showers covered the area. Regional smoke from fires burning in Eastern and Southern Oregon are settling in the McKenzie River drainage. Firefighters look to improve existing fire lines both direct and contingency. This will involve securing, patrolling, and mopping up. Aviation resources will be available to respond in the event of any new starts from potential holdovers from the previous evening lightning.

Ore Fire: 7 miles Northeast of Blue River, 3,337 acres, 42% contained, 614 total personnel, human caused. Firefighters are making progress in the Ore Creek drainage. With a red flag warning, firefighters have prepared for initial attack responses, as the current fire weather pattern persists. Hauling of activity fuels will continue, and heavy equipment use is paused until weather conditions improve. Firing operations for the purpose of securing the fire line are planned today.

Pyramid Fire: East of Middle Santiam Wilderness, 1,312 Acres, 98% contained, 229 total personnel, lightning caused. Crews and heavy equipment will continue the removal of activity fuels from fire lines and keep improving contingency lines. With the chance of increased fire behavior due to the extreme heat and low humidity levels, firefighters will cautiously work to improve lines.

Safety: In addition to the red flag warning and heat advisory, the public should visit Oregon Trip Check for road conditions along Highway 126. There is increased traffic with firefighters, hunting season, starting and the beginning of the weekend. Please use caution and defensive driving to prevent vehicular accidents. https://www.tripcheck.com/Pages/Road-Conditions?mainNav=RoadConditions&curRegion=0
